When I was doing a podcast recently with JT Vsuals – they said “the devil’s in the detail, when you’re not…” LOL! Let’s play off this, we need vision AND we need execution!

Why Crawl, Walk, Run Will Get You There Faster

One of the most common challenges I see leaders and business owners face is the tension between vision and execution. You know where you want to be — scaling, thriving, impacting, earning — but the path to get there often feels foggy. That’s where one of my favorite philosophies comes in: crawl, walk, run.

This simple framework has guided countless executives and solopreneurs I’ve coached into building sustainable growth, not just quick wins.

Crawl: Your Minimal Viable Product (MVP)

At the crawl stage, the goal is not perfection. It’s about establishing a baseline — your minimal viable product (or service, or offer) that allows you to enter the market. Too many leaders stall out here because they want flawless before they want finished. But you can’t refine what doesn’t exist.

Ask yourself: What is the minimum I need to achieve to test this idea? That’s your crawl.

Walk: Build, Test, Adjust

Once you’re crawling, you’ll find opportunities to stabilize and grow. This is where systems, processes, and clarity become vital. Bring the spirit that everything is an experiment. Every client interaction, every delivery, every new hire — it’s all data that helps you improve.

The walk stage is about iteration. Testing your assumptions. Adjusting based on real feedback. Getting stronger step by step.

Run: Scale with Confidence

By the time you’re running, you’re not just reacting, you’re leading. You’ve created a solid foundation and can accelerate growth with confidence. This is where executives start thinking bigger: new markets, new revenue streams, new partnerships, new strategies.

The beauty of crawl-walk-run is that it honors the reality of growth. You don’t have to leap from idea to empire overnight. You start small, you learn, you build, and then you scale.

At Business with Wisdom, I coach leaders through this exact process — helping them monetize their potential and scale with clarity. If you’re ready to build from baseline and grow into the executive leader your business needs, this philosophy is your roadmap.

Build on. Scale smart. Lead wisely.
